Restaurants with play areas inside — the ideal combination for pleasing both parent and child!
We always turn back to Element Fresh for their seasonal menus.
The Xizang Lu branch (near People’s Square) is somewhat lesser known, but has a small play place on the outdoors terrace.
The SWFC (Lujiazui) venue is also very quiet on weekends, and the outside space is wide open and safe – walls on all sides and nowhere for them to quicky escape to- and has gorgeous views of the towers nearby.

Thought for Food at The Living Room by Octave
Chef Alex Bitterling’s menu is so packed with flavour while being fully organic and healthy. The space is also fully air-filtered and they open their kids room at lunchtime for weekend brunch. It’s good for ages 1 to 7 and is a fully enclosed space, so you can relax while they play.

Pon Pon Kids Cafe was opened by two designer mothers. The kid friendly menu (set at ¥50 and up) has comfort food like sandwiches, pastas and pizzas around ¥50-¥80. There’s space to play both indoors and outdoors with toys, a sand pit, and books.

Little Huia is on Hongmei Lu and has an outside play area with a climbing frame. Their food is classic Western style with reasonably priced pizzas, burgers, breakfasts and so on.

The Flying Fox
Flying Fox Gastropub, by the the Marriot East Pudong, also does well cared-for pub-style food, and has an outside area for kids to swing and run around on.

Not an open restaurant, but if you are a member then you can access STCC. They have their restaurant right next to the huge adventure zone play area, which is spread over two floors. So you can eat in peace, safe in the knowledge that the kids are playing at the secure play space.

Wells Jumping
Wells Jumping mixes party areas with trampolining. It’s useful if you live nearer Minhang, otherwise Jump360 is usually the preferred option.
Wells Jumping is on the third floor of the Star Mall Walking Street. It has a cafe inside (so is a restaurant with a play area inside in some senses) serving pasta and chips/friends and such.
