Jing An Shangri-La, Presents wild mushrooms from Yunnan

JING AN SHANGRI-LA, WEST SHANGHAI PRESENTS WILD MUSHROOMS FROM YUNNAN

Shanghai, China, 20 August 2019 – Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai’s signature Cantonese restaurant, Summer Palace, launches the Yunnan Wild Mushroom Menu, which will be available till 30 September 2019.  Chinese Executive Chef David Liao leads the promotion of the signature Yunnan wild mushroom delicacies and guests can enjoy the restaurant’s creative Yunnan cuisine prepared by the chef.

Yunnan is a beautiful place with special climatic conditions and a complex terrain.  It also has a unique array of fascinating forest resources, making it China’s haven for plants. Chef Liao carefully chooses all top-quality ingredients from Yunnan, especially the wild mushrooms.  He wishes to bring the most authentic Yunnan gourmet flavours to guests through a rich array of wild mushroom delicacies.

Summer Palace

Combining south-eastern Chinese cuisine with Cantonese flair, Summer Palace enhances gastronomical sensations with a poetic visual dreamscape.  Inspired by the traditional Chinese ink paintings in dynamic hues and commonly accented with motifs of peacocks, this vision of colours is translated into a series of dining chambers.

Guests will be greeted by a stunning 4-metre-high bronze entrance gate, followed by a full-height bronze wine library before walking into the first dining room – the Pantry Chamber.  This casual energy-charged chamber serving dim sum items features bronze screens and a stunning 9-metre-wide open kitchen that creates a theatrical effect.

Further, in the Lantern Chamber, guests will be mesmerised by a ceiling adorned with over 80 intricate silk lanterns that appear to float magically.  Taking centre stage is a glazed open kitchen that focuses on traditional clay-pot cooking techniques.  A series of lacquered panels in deep-orange hues provokes a sense of architectural modernity.

The journey through Summer Palace continues into the Imperial Chamber for formal dining.  From the bespoke pendants hand-crafted with custom-made tassels in shades of olive green and burnt orange to the sculptural curved screens that partition the dining room into more intimate enclaves, the illustrious Imperial Chamber is fit for an emperor in both culinary offerings and ambience.
